The quality of three urban beaches (Ostende, Pinamar Centro and Norte) and another three towns (Cariló, Valeria del Mar Centro and Norte) is calculated by means of a holistic index that integrates the Protection, Conservation, Sanitary and Recreation dimensions. The different variables are estimated by means of a matrix to finally, after the corresponding weightings, added to obtain the BQV index. The best quality beach is Cariló, which reaches the highest BQV value, followed by Pinamar Norte and Valeria Centro, while Pinamar Centro ranks worst. All the beaches obtain the highest values for sanitary and protection conditions. They have good water and sand quality, low presence of waste are wide beaches of fine to medium sand, with gentle slopes, without hard coastal defenses and little vulnerability to the rise of the sea level. The lowest values are obtained for the conservation domain. For this reason, it is recommended to reinforce the sand dune restoration measures already underway.
